The Ten of Wands is often depicted by showing a man carrying 10 wands in front of him. The idea is that if you have too many commitments and things that you are doing it can hinder your ability to see where you are going. I can also see that if you’re too focused on where your going and the future you are creating you can miss the magic of the moment.
So today, maybe just for this moment would you be willing to put down your best laid plans, all your commitments, all your future goals, and just be here now? That thing you know you need to handle will be there tomorrow (or even Tuesday;). That place you are headed to you will be there soon enough. You will have new people to visit along the way but would you be willing to cherish your time with the people here, now? For yesterday is already history and tomorrows a mystery however todays is a gift called the present.
It seems fitting that we should have this card this weekend where we honor those who have passed on usually by being with those we love that are still with us. The truth is you never know how long you will have with a lover, a friend, or your family. So maybe today rather than spending time wallowing in unfulfilled promises of your past, or fretting about all the things you need to accomplish in the future, just take the time to put all that aside and hug someone you love today or tell someone how much you appreciate them being in your life. You’ll never be sorry you did. But you may be sorry you didn’t.
It reminds me of a story about a man on his death bed and his son asked… Dad do you have any regrets?”. “Son I don’t regret anything I did… I only regret the things I didn’t do.”
May you have a magical, moment by moment, memorial day weekend!
